Kitchen, Bath and Home Remodeling in Redondo Beach

Kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home renovations for Redondo Beach homes, with permits, trades, and the schedule run by one licensed team.

The Reality Here

Remodeling a Redondo Beach home built decades ago

Much of Redondo Beach was built between the 1950s and the 1970s, and many of those houses are ready for more than a cosmetic update. Levine Homes Real Estate and Construction remodels homes across the city as a licensed general contractor and real estate broker, from a single kitchen or bathroom to additions and whole-home renovations.

The work changes with the neighborhood. North Redondo lots tend to be flatter and larger, which often gives an addition more room. Hillside lots in the Hollywood Riviera need a plan that accounts for the slope. Permitted work goes through the Redondo Beach Community Development Department, and some lots near the Esplanade sit in the Coastal Zone. We sort out those requirements before design is final. Our Redondo Beach remodels range from kitchens and baths to full room additions, with projects on Plant Ave, Broadway and Harriman Lane, and work at the JCC.

Builder + Broker

Why work with a builder who’s also your broker

Whether you plan to stay for decades or sell in a few years, the scope should make sense for this market. Because we are also a licensed real estate broker, we look at each line of the scope the way a buyer would and tell you which upgrades are worth the money and which are not. If you later decide to sell, the same team can list the home.

Additions, or building new

Flatter, larger lots in North Redondo can make room for an addition. On hillside lots in the Riviera, the slope shapes what can be added and where. If the house is past saving, we also build new.

Kitchens

Kitchen Remodeling in Redondo Beach

Most people hire an agent to find the property and a contractor to build it, and hope the two see eye to eye. At Levine Homes, they’re the same team.

A kitchen remodel in Redondo Beach often starts with a house built between the 1950s and the 1970s. Those kitchens were sized and placed for a different way of living. Common goals include opening the kitchen to the family room, adding an island, and fitting in more storage. We plan the layout around how you cook and entertain, then handle cabinetry, counters, lighting, and appliances.

Older houses can hide problems behind the walls, such as outdated wiring or past unpermitted work, so we plan for them before demolition. When a wall, plumbing line, or circuit moves, the Redondo Beach Community Development Department reviews the work, and we file the permit and schedule inspections. On hillside lots in the Riviera, we arrange the layout around the view when there is one.

Bathrooms

Bathroom Remodeling in Redondo Beach

Most people hire an agent to find the property and a contractor to build it, and hope the two see eye to eye. At Levine Homes, they’re the same team.

In a house from the 1950s to the 1970s, the bathroom may still have its original plumbing. Updating it often means replacing old supply lines and drains along with the tile and fixtures, then waterproofing the shower properly before anything goes on the walls. In a smaller hall bath, a walk-in shower in place of a tub, recessed storage, and the right tile scale make the room work harder without moving walls.

For a primary suite, we plan dual vanities, a larger shower, and a freestanding tub where the floor framing supports it. Plumbing and electrical changes go through the Community Development Department, and we file and manage those permits. We order tile, fixtures, and vanities before demolition starts so the crew is not waiting on deliveries. As a broker, we can also tell you whether a full gut or a lighter refresh makes more sense for the home.

“I’m in a very difficult spot in my home construction right now, and I reached out to local builders just hoping someone would offer guidance. Mike, the owner of Levine Homes, responded almost immediately… He spent an entire hour at the site, giving thoughtful, honest feedback and advice. Common Questions

Redondo Beach remodeling questions.

The things homeowners here ask us most often before a project starts.

Do I need a permit to remodel in Redondo Beach?

Remodels that move walls, plumbing, or electrical usually need a permit from the Redondo Beach Community Development Department, and so do additions. Some lots near the Esplanade are in the Coastal Zone, which can add review. We prepare the submittals, answer plan-check comments, and schedule inspections through final sign-off.

My house was built in the 1960s. What should I expect?

Much of Redondo Beach was built between the 1950s and the 1970s. Older homes often hide problems behind the walls, such as undersized framing, outdated wiring, or past unpermitted work. We look for those issues during the walkthrough and plan for them before demolition, not after.

Can you add on to a North Redondo home?

North Redondo lots tend to be flatter and larger, which can leave room for an addition. We check setbacks and the existing structure before design starts, so you know what is realistic before you commit.

Do you work on hillside lots in the Riviera?

Yes. Hillside lots in the Hollywood Riviera need a plan that accounts for the slope, access for crews and deliveries, and drainage. We walk the site first and build those conditions into the scope and schedule.

Do you also build new homes in Redondo Beach?

Yes. We built 1315 S Irena, a two-level custom home in South Redondo. If a remodel will not get you where you want to go, see our custom home builder in Redondo Beach page.
